New Year, New Opportunity to Start a Business

  • Share |

As 2012 gets under way, it brings with it the hope and excitement of new beginnings. For some, that includes starting their own business.

The decision to finally start a business may be the result of a life-long dream. Or the promise of a new career path and the prospect of being your own boss. Whatever the driving force, the start of the New Year offers an opportunity for aspiring business owners to dive in and get started.

Lucky for those individuals, the statewide network of Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) are ready to help.

The Pennsylvania SBDC offers a variety of information and resources to help entrepreneurs decide if business ownership is right for them:

  • All across Pennsylvania, “First Step” workshops are offered -- at no charge, until the end of 2012 -- to help individuals evaluate their business idea, learn about business plans, and help locate sources of funding.

Once individuals are ready to take the next step, experienced SBDC consultants  are available to provide one-on-one business assistance.

The process of starting a business can sometimes be difficult and intimidating. But for the past 30 years, the Pennsylvania SBDC have made this process easier by helping thousands of individuals fulfill their dream of running their own business.

In fact, in 2010 (the most recent data) the Pennsylvania SBDC helped start more than 1,600 new businesses in Pennsylvania. Are you ready to make it one more?
