On June 6, 2013, The Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) celebrated its 25th anniversary. Having joined the Pennsylvania SBDC network in 1988, the Saint Vincent College SBDC has served Westmoreland and Fayette counties by providing seminars, workshops, and no-fee consulting services to entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Sponsored by the Alex G. McKenna School of Business and Saint Vincent College, the 25th anniversary celebration took place at the Fred M. Rogers Center located on the campus of Saint Vincent College. Directors from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Pennsylvania SBDC were present to give remarks. U.S. Congressman Tim Murphy, Pennsylvania Senator Kim Ward, and Pennsylvania Representative Mike Reese all presented proclamations to commemorate the event.
Like many of the centers in the Pennsylvania SBDC network, the Saint Vincent College SBDC has made significant contributions to the community it serves. In the past 25 years, the SBDC has provided assistance to 7,223 small business clients, logging almost 60,000 hours of no-fee management consulting. Clients have acquired over $145 million in start-up and growth capital with the help of the Saint Vincent College SBDC. It has hosted 624 educational programs, attracting over 12,000 attendees from the entire Southwestern Pennsylvania region.
In the past, the Saint Vincent College SBDC has received numerous awards, such as the SBA Award of Excellence in Counseling (1999, 2008, 2009, 2010) and the SBA Award of Excellence in Training (1999, 2007, 2008, 2009).
