September is National Preparedness Month and the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) are reminding all small business owners about the importance of business continuity.  As part of National Preparedness Month, company management are encouraged to tune into webinars available throughout the month of September to educate themselves on current business continuity matters.

To deal with a crisis or major disaster, having a business continuity plan is essential to establishing a successful and resilient small business. The cost of creating a disaster preparedness plan is small compared to the financial losses that may occur if there’s no plan in place.

Business owners can get help with their own preparedness planning through a series of free webinars in September hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Agility Recovery.  The series is presented in collaboration with FEMA’s Ready Campaign, during National Preparedness Month (NPM).  The 2015 NPM theme is “Don’t Wait.  Communicate. Make your emergency plan Today.”

30-minute webinars will be presented at 2:00 p.m. EDT each Wednesday in September on the following topics:

  • September 9: “The Keystone to Disaster Recovery: Communications”
  • September 16: “Recover from the Most Likely Disaster: Power Outage”
  • September 23: “Protect Your Most Valuable Asset: Prepare Your Employees”
  • September 30: “If You Do Nothing Else this Year…” Simple tips to build your organization’s resilience.
