Today, the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) named U.S. Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-02) Small Business Champion during a business program held at the University of Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to have such an ardent supporter of small business and the SBDC program here in Pennsylvania,” said Christian Conroy, State Director of the Pennsylvania SBDC network. “Today’s recognition shows our appreciation for the work Congressman Evans and his colleagues have put forth in advancing H.R. 1702,” he added.

“This bill will help SBDCs and the SBA better manage their partnership and working together to bring improved assistance to small business. We greatly appreciate Representative Evans' help with this legislation and his hard work and support for small business in Pennsylvania and nationwide,” said Charles “Tee” Rowe, President & CEO of America’s SBDC.

“I am honored to join with members of our small business community to celebrate H.R. 1702, a bill that will give our small business owners and entrepreneurs the tools and resources they need to continue to grow our economy,” Congressman Evans said. “Our small businesses and entrepreneurs play a vital role in strengthening our neighborhoods, block by block, and I will continue to do all I can to support our small business community in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and our nation.”

U.S. Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA) recently joined with colleagues to introduce H.R. 1702, the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) Improvement Act of 2017. This bipartisan bill amends the Small Business Act to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the SBDC program nationwide and to enhance the delivery of entrepreneurial development services and education.

The award presentation coincided with “The Tech Startup Toolbox” seminar presented by the Wharton SBDC as part of a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Those in attendance included small business owners with an interest in starting or building a technology company in the greater Philadelphia region.
