International Business Consultant
Darlene A. Atta is Founder and Director of The Entrepreneurship Institute, an organizational development, business consulting and training organization she founded in 1996 that works with individuals, businesses and economic development organizations throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. She “retired” from full time employment as Associate Director at the Temple University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in 2007 where she managed staff engaged in general business management, technology, environmental, government procurement and international trade consulting services.
While at the SBDC, Atta taught courses in Entrepreneurship at Temple’s Fox School of Business and Management. She also served as project manager on graduate student consulting teams working on innovation projects in Israel, which led to a visit. Atta returned to her consulting roots at the SBDC in June 2013 when she obtained Small Business Administration certification as an International Trade Consultant, a position she holds along with her position as a Senior Business Consultant. Since that time, she has achieved the Certified Global Business Professional credential (CGBP) from NASBITE International.
Ms. Atta has completed coursework and comprehensive examinations toward a PhD in Policy and Community Economic Development with a concentration in business development at Southern New Hampshire University in 2007. Until fall 2015, she was Adjunct Faculty in Eastern University’s graduate Urban Studies program where she not only taught in the Community Development Concentration but also served as concentration advisor to students on issues of academic planning, careers, etc. Prior to this she worked as a Human Resources professional for 15 years for a Fortune 100 company.
