Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers Join National Effort to Promote Entrepreneurship
National Entrepreneurship Week is February 23 – March 1
PHILADELPHIA – Beginning February 23, the Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) will partner with more than 90 agencies and institutions in support of the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education’s 2nd annual National Entrepreneurship Week.
The celebration continues the momentum established by Resolution #699, passed by the US House of Representatives in June 2006 in support of a national effort to support entrepreneurs. With the focus of the second annual Entrepreneurship Week on the importance of entrepreneurship education, the Pennsylvania SBDC will support the initiative’s goal by offering a variety of low- to no-cost workshops specifically for aspiring entrepreneurs.
SBDC courses, seminars and conferences provide up-to-date, practical information on a wide variety of business topics that teach basic business skills as well as more advanced and specific business management. Workshops feature experts and leaders from industry, government, higher education, and professional associations. A complete listing of these workshops may be found at www.pasbdc.org/education.
“Entrepreneurship is critical to future economic health everywhere,” said Pennsylvania SBDC Interim State Director Christian Conroy. “It is true in Pennsylvania, where the businesses we help open doors, create jobs, and build regional wealth, and it is also true across the nation and across the globe. We are pleased to partner in these efforts to raise awareness of the significant value entrepreneurs bring to their communities.”
The SBDCs operate out of the following 18 institutions and more than 100 outreach locations: Bucknell University, Clarion University, Duquesne University, Gannon University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Kutztown University, Lehigh University, Lock Haven University, Penn State, Saint Francis University, Saint Vincent College, Shippensburg University, Temple University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Scranton, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Widener University and Wilkes University.
