The company needed to find new markets to support its plan for growth.   The  firm saw opportunities for growth in the Government arena and came to the Temple University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for assistance. Manuel Trujillo’s goal was to increase revenues through government contracting.  He came to the  Procurement Technology Assistance Center (PTAC) seeking help and  guidance to better understand the government arena so he could grow his business by marketing effectively to the government.  In the commercial arena, technology markets can present some unique issues and challenges for policy makers, manufacturers, distributors, and consumers and those same concerns follow right through into the government marketplace, along with a myriad of policies and procedures. The government marketplace can be an extremely difficult but lucrative market.

When Trujillo met with Faye Fitz, the first steps were to create market visibility. He was advised to follow strategic guidelines to complete and update all mandatory and appropriate government registrations and certifications (CCR, SBA Dynamic Small Business Search, ORCA, classified group certifications, etc).

Faye made recommendations to develop and update Swain Techs marketing materials. This included developing a Capability Statement, update business cards, brochures, website information and enhance other day-to-day marketing materials. The objective was to include government codes and pertinent vendor information on the marketing materials to enable Government Agencies to identify Swain Techs as a government vendor.
