Financing Resources
There are myriad state and local sources of financing available to Pennsylvania companies. We have not listed them all here individually, but instead have provided links to source listings.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development
The PA DCED lists Pennsylvania's
state financing programs by type and by purpose. They
also have a single application that is used for all
assistance programs.
The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority
PIDA makes loans available through local Industrial
Development Corporations. General information is available through the
PIDA website regarding loan eligibility,
amounts and terms as well as a listing of the
local Industrial Development Corporation offices.
Small Business Administration Loans
SBA has various loan programs. The SBA sets the guidelines for the
loans while SBA’s partners (lenders, community development organizations, and microlending institutions) make the loans
to small businesses. More details are available on the SBA website

Lenders and Microloan Lenders.
Economic Development Organizations
PA Economic Development organizations or corporations have various
financing programs.
BusinessFinance.com offers a list of economic development organizations in Pennsylvania.
Unique or specialized financing sources may be available in your locality. Check appropriate county, municipal, city or township websites for more information.
Non-governmental economic development organizations may be a source of financing. The Pennsylvania Economic Development Directory lists and links to economic development organizations in Pennsylvania.
Small Business Investment Companies
SBICs provide long-term debt and equity growth capital licensed
under the Small Business Investment Act of 1958. Pennsylvania SBICs that are members of the National Association of Small
Business Investment Companies are listed on the
NASBIC website.
Venture Capital
There are a number of venture capital directories on the web that can be used to
research sources of venture capital financing.
The Infon Venture Capital Database is one of the most comprehensive online databases. It is free to search and some contact information is free.
The National Venture Capital Association Member Directory is a comprehensive, published directory of members of the National Venture Capital Association. The directory can be ordered from the NVCA.
The Greater Philadelphia Venture Group website lists the group’s corporate and individual members.
vFinance.com offers venture capital searches by state, industry and dollar amount. The contact information for firms costs $2 per contact.
BusinessFinance.com allows users to enter information on the financing needed and returns a list of potential sources.
AngelWiki is a collaborative directory that identifies a number of angel investors in Pennsylvania.
The Internal Revenue Service
The IRS has a number of online tools for small business owners including
the 2008 Tax Calendar for Small Businesses available in
both English and Spanish. Additional resources for
